What kind of work does the Sameera Gokal Foundation do?
The Sameera Gokal Foundation is a nonprofit organization that offers professional support and financial assistance to young and underprivileged journalists in developing countries who are passionate about reporting news.

Through mentorship, internship and media projects, we can give the next generation of journalists the education and experience they need to maintain high ethical and journalistic standards to become “watchdogs” of their communities and governments today.

What is the geographic focus of the Foundation’s work?
The work of the Foundation is concentrated in many countries, mostly in underserved areas of Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

Does the Foundation accept project proposals?
The Foundation is accepting media project proposals from developing countries.

How can I make a donation?

Will anyone else know how much I have donated?
All of your personal details and donation amount(s) are kept strictly confidential and are not shared with anyone.

Does the Sameera Gokal Foundation have a planned giving program?
The Foundation does not have a planned giving program at this time.

How do I know if my company will match my Sameera Gokal Foundation gift?
Your gift to the Sameera Gokal Foundation could be matched dollar for dollar by your employer! Please check with your company to find out if they will match your contribution to the Sameera Gokal Foundation.

Are online gifts to the Foundation secure?
Yes. Online gifts are made through PayPal’s secure payment gateway.

What percentage of my gift is used for management and administrative expenses?
One hundred percent of the Foundation’s proceeds go to participating programs at the schools, with no deductions for administrative expenses.

Why is an unrestricted gift preferred by the Foundation?
By making an unrestricted gift to the Sameera Gokal Foundation, your gift will go where the need is greatest.

Will I receive a receipt for my gift that can be used when filing my income taxes?
Yes. You will receive a receipt by mail for every contribution you make to the Sameera Gokal Foundation, whether you donate by mail or online. This receipt can be used when filing your income taxes.

Is my gift tax-deductible?
All gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible. The Sameera Gokal Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
